Aside from a convenient overall layout, opt for solutions that make for an easy life. A sturdy sink for instance, one that is easy to clean and resistant to impact and scratches, or a tap with a spray head which gives you more flexibility in the kitchen, or - if you are left-handed -, a drip rack to the left of your sink.
